We are seeking a Data Scientist to join the Office of Inspector General (OIG). This role reports to the Deputy Inspector General and supports all data analytic efforts related to audits, inspections, investigations, and program evaluations. You’ll work to detect fraud, waste, and abuse while advancing the analytic capabilities of the USCP OIG.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage data analytics for audits, inspections, and investigations
- Develop data metrics and performance tracking tools for the OIG
- Apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to solve complex problems
- Build scalable machine learning pipelines and cloud-based solutions
- Promote analytics across the organization, produce white papers, and train staff
- Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and trends in data science
- Partner with academic programs and analytics communities
- Write software for algorithm implementation and develop statistical models
✅ Minimum Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must pass a background investigation and complete a one-year probationary period
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a directly related field
- At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to CP-13/GS-15 level in:
- Applying data science methods to operational and systemic analysis
- Using statistical and mathematical principles for reporting and recommendations
- Conducting advanced data science analysis and problem-solving
